On March 18th, market research firm TrendForce stated in a report that Nvidia is expected to launch the GB300 chip in the second quarter of 2025 ahead of schedule. However, in terms of the overall server system, its computing performance, storage capacity, network connectivity, and power management have all improved compared to the GB200. Therefore, ODM and other suppliers need more time for testing and customer verification.
The organization stated that based on recent developments in the supply chain, GB300 related suppliers will gradually plan design work in the second quarter of this year. It is estimated that GB300 chips and Compute Tray will begin production in May, and ODM factories will conduct initial ES (engineering sample) prototype design; It is expected that after the standby cabinet system, power specification design, SOCAMM, and other aspects are finalized and mass-produced in the third quarter, the GB300 system is expected to gradually expand its shipment scale.
Previously, there were reports that the supplier AOSL of Nvidia had overheating issues, which may hinder the mass production of Nvidia GB300. Industry insiders say that during the development and design process of new products, from the yield of the front-end chipset to the installation and testing of the back-end, the supply chain will inevitably encounter various problems, but there is no need to overinterpret them. Just like before the release of each new generation of iPhone, there may be reports of a supplier having problems, but in the end, the new phone can always be launched on schedule at the scheduled new phone launch event. In other words, the supply chain will solve problems layer by layer to ensure yield.
