Crusoe Texas data center raises $11.6 billion in funding, with each building using 50000 Nvidia Blackwell chips

Artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure startup Crusoe announced that it has received an additional $11.6 billion in funding to expand its data center in Abilene, Texas from two buildings to eight, bringing the total financing to $15 billion.

Crusoe was founded in 2018 as a cryptocurrency company and has now transformed into an AI infrastructure construction company. It is one of the upcoming "Neocloud" companies that provide professional AI cloud and data center services.

In January of this year, Oracle commissioned Crusoe to build the first data center for Stargate. Stargate is a joint venture invested by OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle, with plans to spend $500 billion to fund the construction of AI infrastructure.

According to reports, it is expected that the Texas data center will become the largest data center used by OpenAI.

The development of the Abilene data center may be a crucial step for OpenAI as it aims to expand the critical infrastructure needed to handle complex tasks in generative AI while reducing reliance on its supporter Microsoft.

Crusoe said, 'Our client is Oracle. OpenAI is Oracle's client.'. ”

Crusoe stated that they will jointly fund the construction of these six new buildings with Blue Owl's Real Assets platform and Primary Digital Infrastructure. Each building will be equipped with up to 50000 Nvidia Blackwell AI chip systems.
